Countryoke is a thing…
…but the thing is, we’d never played country music before apart from a little bit of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and maybe the odd Carrie Underwood tune. However, when we were approached to play the Long Road Festival 2018, we jumped at the chance.
It was hard work nailing around 50 new songs. But we did it and we headlined the Honky-Tonk Stage on the saturday night. We smashed a 2.5 hour set straight though and everyone loved it. So much so, we were asked back for 2 nights in 2019! And for all 3 nights in 2020!!! Sadly 2020 has gone the way of many other gigs and it’s been cancelled. So… roll on 2021.
Country is a great genre attracting the best artists, songwriters and producers. So these songs are a joy to play at one of our favourite festivals in the calendar!
And augmenting our line-up with our mate Jonny Burr on harmonica is wonderful!
Here’s a snippet of what we got up to at the weekend @thelongroadfest. At ROCKAOKE we LOVE a challenge, and learning an entire new set of Country tunes for the folk at Long Road Festival to sing with us was indeed a challenge……but we LOVED and had an amazing time at this wonderful festival! • • • #countryoke #rockaoke #karaoke #thelongroadfestival2019 #countrymusic #musicfestival
