ROCKAOKE were booked by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour to perform at his wife Polly Samson’s 50th birthday party. It was a proper star-studded event with guests including Ringo Starr, Jeff Beck, Nick Mason, Nick Cave, Tom Stoppard, Nigel Planer etc… David’s own band, featuring long-time bassist Guy Pratt and Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera, played the “support” slot leaving Polly and David’s family and friends to headline the night with ROCKAOKE…!

The key to the band’s success is their ability to perform classic songs with boundless energy and enthusiasm, sculpting concert type sets on-the-fly completely dependent on LIVE and ongoing song selection whilst simultaneously coaxing ROCKSTAR performances out of whoever happens to jump on stage with them…!
This is an art honed over thousands of gigs, the basis of which is the band’s desire to make people feel like they’re “IN” the band, not just happening to be on stage with them.

The party was AMAZING… I have had so many comments about how awesome you guys were… it was exactly what I wanted! I loved seeing everyone enjoying themselves so much and the smiles on everyones faces were the best birthday present I could have asked for!
I have worked with Rockaoke for over 6 years now and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and energetic experience to suggest to their clients or for private parties, etc. They are always on hand and ready to come up with ideas that fit in with most themes but the fact that they can tweak their line-ups to fit in to most spaces (and budgets) make them a godsend.
I’ve used then numerous times over the years but great examples of how they have worked for events are when we used them for our Members Halloween night (Scaryaoke) – full band set up for 120 guests with Mat comparing and whipping the crowd in to a frenzy dressed as a well fed vampire. I’ve also used them really well in a stripped back format for clients like Google and Undercurrent, where they set up in a 2 piece acoustic style format for 35 guests (Acoustaoke). They have also worked well for weddings and once at a Barmitzvh (which was awesome!).
They are great guys, there is not a thing they cannot do and I would not hesitate to recommend them for any type of event. Except a funeral I suppose.
It was the best party I have ever been to in all my 60 years of parties! I didn’t think it would work quite so well in a room in a pub but it was perfect. My guests have been commenting on how encouraging the band was in a way that enabled people to take part without feeling press-ganged into it. You judged the atmosphere exactly right. Thank you for being so flexible and accommodating and professional!
Thank you all SO much for making my party on Saturday so spectacular. It was exactly as I hoped and i had the best time ever. You lot were fabulous and coped with my singer and non-singer friends and family perfectly.
