Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree @ F1’s biggest xmas party of 2011!
Christmas is always the busiest and best time of year for ROCKAOKE web link. The “rock band karaoke” concept was made for Christmas parties. 2011 was our best Christmas yet! And the sheer mindblowing awesomeness of a Rockaoke Christmas party has never been better encapsulated than at the Mercedes Brawn F1 Team Christmas Party of 2011…!!!
First, the guys were joined onstage by legendary F1 driver Nico Rosberg – they even learned his favourite U2 song on the night to help Nico fulfil his ambition of singing “Where The Streets Have No Name” with a live band. Next, Nico was joined by the brains and the brawn behind the team, Norbert Haug and Ross Brawn, and Norbert led from the front with a scintillating rendition of “Mustang Sally”.
But to top it all, and to put the tin hat on a stonking year for ROCKAOKE, the guys were joined for a grand finale of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by the great man himself – Michael Schumacher…!

It was a night for all of our guests to show off their hidden skills on stage at our Diary Party. For party band Rockaoke gave our VIP guests the chance to become a rock star for the night by grabbing the mic.
Hollyoaks star Andy Moss had everyone up and dancing with his version of Kings of Leon hit Sex On Fire, while Capital FM DJ Nigel “Wingman” Clucas kicked off proceedings with a swaggering duet of Oasis hit Rock ‘n’ Roll star alongside the inimitable DJ Dave Foran.
Among others showing off their impressive vocals were ex-Emmerdale and Candy Cabs star Danielle Henry, celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barn and yes, even The Diary may have been persuaded up on stage at one point, for a duet of It’s Raining Men alongside Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane.
Earlier in the night Coronation Street star Bruno Langley showcased his talent for singing, performing a host of swing classics as well as his versions of modern hits with his Wonderland Band.
Music runs in the family for Bruno – as his stunning siblings also performed at the bash, with a breathtaking set from The Langley Sisters of ’40s classics dressed in their elegant floor-length pistachio gowns.
Meanwhile Bruno’s Corrie co-tar Graeme Hawley was a real hit at the party – performing a DJ set of top dancefloor-filling tunes. Graeme took a break from all the dramatic shenanigans of his murderous Corrie character John Stape to head to our bash to show off his skills as a DJ that have seen him play at venues across Manchester.
Please join us in our efforts to raise money for all those affected. We are having a fundraising evening packed full of great entertainment

Recently, ROCKAOKE had the great honour of performing at Alan Shearer’s 40th birthday bash. Superstar guests included Alan Hansen, Iain Dowie and Ant & Dec, and our own guitar hero Dan Richardson got a mention in the paper!
Dan was no doubt thrilled to perform alongside the England footballing legend at this exclusive gig, but there was only one problem – he’s a Sunderland AFC fan! Dan spoke to the Sunderland Echo about his reservations when it came to stepping into Newcastle territory, saying that it was “hard to swallow at first”. Thankfully, he was soon put at ease when he saw that Steve Bruce had been invited too.
Shearer’s birthday own goal
For this special occasion, we were joined onstage by BBC Radio 1 producer Matt Fincham, who filled in on keyboards. Matt had worked with us before when we were on tour with Chris Molyes Live in 2009.
Alan had no idea that our guitarist was a lifelong Sunderland fan, but he nevertheless joined us onstage to belt out a rendition of Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon. We gave him a big intro and he absolutely smashed it!

Sorry this isn’t a beauty post (but there’s a tenuous link to fitness somewhere!): I have major post-wedding blues after helping organise a brilliant wedding last weekend so I had to write something about it to keep me sane. My friends Louise and Diego hosted the most beautiful, colourful, fun and personal wedding I’ve ever been to: there were home-made decorations and cakes, pretty tables laid with floral runners, rainbow bunting and some seriously good-looking guests (half were Spanish: think tanned, wild and fabulously dressed). It was very special and such an honour to help them with all the prep.
A big highlight was the evening’s entertainment. A few months ago, the bride and I (who have a penchant for karaoke) came across a brilliant act called Rockaoke. The band, of four fun male musicians on lead, bass and drums, belts out rocky classics and dancefloor fillers whilst YOU sing. They have a list of over 100 songs that you can sign yourself up for, with all the lyrics in a book on the stage. So there we were, in a bar in Soho full of complete strangers, singing our little hearts out with a rock band. Watching Louise perform, I knew we had to get them involved in her wedding.
And it happened: Rockaoke was their wedding band and they went down a storm. The first act – one of the bridesmaids – performed a Tina Turner number with all the signature moves, which got the whole crowd signing up for songs. It’s the ultimate limelight fantasy and it doesn’t matter whether you’re good or bad, everyone will sing along and be on your side. The band themselves were brilliant – prompting each performer with their cue to start singing and filling in the lyrics when some guests were too (ahem) excited to follow the words on the book. Everyone was dancing (there’s the fitness part) and most of the guests got to sing, including the Spanish aunties with a lengthy Hey Jude and an 11-year old screaming Kaiser Chief’s Ruby. It was mad and the crowd was electric.
I’ve been to a lot of weddings and this was by far the best band and entertainment I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for something original, fun and memorable, get clicking and book www.rockaoke.com .
